The Jackson Coffee Co. has made an offer to lease an existing building in Jackson, Michigan that will house their third coffee house. While the exact location cannot be disclosed at this time, it is located on the West side of Jackson. The store is designed to capture local business, as well as traffic off of interstate 94, which is the main thoroughfare from Detroit to Chicago. It is expected that the store will employ four full time employees and twelve part time employees.

This new location will bring the total count of stores for Jackson Coffee Co. to three. Having opened their first store in Historic Downtown Jackson in 2006, the company has seen rapid growth in what are considered difficult economic times. Their second store opened in the Allegiance Hospital in June 2009.

The three stores serve different markets, according to the owner. The downtown store is the anchor store that serves 400 to 500 customers per day. The downtown store also serves as the company’s roasting facility. Not only is Jackson Coffee Co. Jackson Michigan’s largest independent coffee house, but they are Jackson County’s only coffee roaster. In addition, they are the only roaster in the Mid-West to roast their coffee on an Ambex-10 coffee roaster with the sophisticated computer profiling system.

The location in the Allegiance Hospital is designed to serve those who work in the building, as well as those individuals who visit and are patients. To some extent it also services other nearby medical complexes in the area.

The third proposed location is designed to serve those visiting and living on the West side of Jackson. It will also service the highway travelers. It will be Jackson Coffee Co’s only drive-thru location.

The Jackson Coffee Co. is no stranger to success. They have won best coffee every year since they have opened. This is in light of steep competition, including two Starbucks, three Tim Horton's, a Dunkin' Donuts, a Biggby Gourmet Coffee, and four other independent coffee houses.

In addition, they have received two Congressional awards, two awards from the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, and a Tribute from the Governor of Michigan.





Our story is really quite simple: We have been roasting and brewing really great coffee since September 2006. Our coffee is roasted in small drum roasters in our downtown Jackson store, which is located in the heart of Jackson’s business district. We do this because we know that there is nothing better than freshly roasted coffee so long as you’re starting with great beans and roasting them with passion.

In 2007, 2008, and 2009 we won awards for “Best Coffee House” in Jackson. We have won every year since opening, beating out the likes of Biggby Coffee, three Starbucks, Bearclaw Coffee, three Tim Horton's, Dunkin' Donuts, and 5 other independent coffee houses.

In 2007, the Jackson Chamber of Commerce awarded Jackson Coffee Co. the coveted Brick Award. In 2008, the Chamber awarded us the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. In the March 2009 edition, Jackson Coffee Co. was on the cover of Jackson Magazine, and was the feature article. Our commitment to coffee, as well as the remarkable flavor of our coffees and our commitment to our community, is the reason for our awards. It’s what we call “The J Way”.

A great coffee experience is also about shop environment. Our shops are real community treasures. They are real reflections of the communities that they’re in. Our shops hang local art and play local music. Free Wifi is available in all locations. And, unlike others, our shops smell like coffee.
