Boil is a disease that is caused due to the infection of the hair follicles. In this disease the localized area gets accumulated with pus and dead tissue. These individual boil clusters all together and finally forms the interconnected network of boils that is called carbuncles.
As the time increases the boil becomes red in color and is filled with pus that becomes tender, warm, and extremely painful. As the disease grows the skin area becomes harder and that should be taken care of. When the boil becomes ready to discharge pus yellow and white point at the centre is seen. Abscess is contained collection of pus. Propertreatment for boils at proper time is necessary. When the disease occurs the abscess becomes soft and gets filled with infection fighting white blood cells, which the body sends from blood stream to eliminate the infection.
Sometimes when the infection is more severe then are the chances that multiple boils may develop and the patient might have to face fever and swollen lymph nodes. A recurring boil is called chronic furunculosis. In some people itching may develop before the formation of the lumps, boils are generally found on the back, stomach, underarms, shoulders, face, lip, eyes, nose, thighs and buttocks, it may be found elsewhere also.
Finally it can be understood that the pus is the collection of white blood cells, bacteria and protein. Boils surgery is one method of boils treatment or it can be drained out through the surface of the skin. While draining the boil, it may exclude an unpleasant smell, this happens due to the presence of bacteria in the discharge.
