The Encyclopedia of Common Natural Ingredients tell us that copaiba oleoresin has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and disinfectant activities and it is the highest known natural source of caryophyllene, a plant chemical which has been documented as having strong anti-inflammatory properties, and it is one of the most common synthesized ingredient found in acne treatment drugs.
Moderate and severe inflammatory types of acne result after the plugged follicle is invaded by Propionibacterium acnes, a bacteria that normally lives on the skin. Studies in vivo and in vitro action show that copaiba oil acts against Propionibacterium acnes, being a powerful agent against this bacteria type.
The blend of Copaiba oleoresin and Pracaxi oils, scented with tea tree, another good source of caryophyllene, is the only ingredients on this acne product. The oils go deep into pores absorbing excess sebum, killing bacteria, toxins and dead skin cells while moisturizing, leaving the skin feeling naturally clean and fresh.
