Pressbox (Press Release) -
Pharmaceutical Profiles, the Nottingham UK-based early phase development company, dedicated to improving the decision making process in early drug development, is set to have a major profile at the forthcoming American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences (AAPS) 2001 Annual Meeting and Exposition, in Denver, Colorado from 21 – 25 October 2001.
Professor Bob Davis, Lord Trent Professor and Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Nottingham and a co-founder of Pharmaceutical Profiles, will deliver a keynote address on the future of drug delivery to more than 4,000 delegates in the plenary session at the meeting, considered to be one of the most important events in the pharmaceutical industry calendar. Pharmaceutical Profiles will also present seven scientific posters and podium presentations on other key issues in drug delivery.
Davis, an acknowledged industry expert in drug delivery systems, has run a large research group since 1975, studying novel drug delivery systems. Topics of research have included drug targeting (colloidal carriers), transmucosal delivery, oral and parenteral systems for controlled release and product evaluation through gamma scintigraphy. He has published more than seven hundred papers and is the co-editor of seven books.
Topics covered in Pharmaceutical Profiles’ presentations at the event will include:
· Effective Drug Delivery Of An Experimental Powder Formulation From FlowCaps Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) With Low Inspiratory Effort
· In vivo Evaluation of a Novel Hand-held Inhaler Device
· Highly efficient, flow independent pulmonary delivery of PulmoSphere budesonide from a dry powder inhaler
· Intestinal Targeting Using Enteric Coated HPMC Capsules
· The Pharmacokinetic And Pharmacoscintigraphic Evaluation Of Endogastric Therapeutic Systems In Healthy Volunteers
· Using The EnterionTM capsule To Investigate The Absorption Of Faropenem Daloxate Delivered In Particulate Form From Different Sites Of The Gastrointestinal Tract
Pharmaceutical Profiles’ new 3D inhalation imaging service, gs3, will also be a major focus of the AAPS event. gs3 provides evaluation services for inhalation products by using new radiolabelling techniques developed by Pharmaceutical Profiles and the latest three-dimensional nuclear imaging technology.
Launched recently, gs3, is being billed by the company as a new dimension in imaging - and not without good reason.
The new service includes TechneCoatTM, a new patent protected radiolabelling technique, a new way of analysing data from conventional two-dimensional studies so that they have even greater anatomical relevance and human lung absorption studies to identify the areas of the lung where drug absorption is the greatest.
Located in Nottingham, UK and Princeton, New Jersey, Pharmaceutical Profiles uses product visualization techniques during early clinical development to assist clients with the selection of new drugs, new formulations or new drug delivery technologies.
