Croda’s Medilan Lanolin Grades Are The First Ingredients To Be Recognised By British Skin Foundation

Added: (Mon Jun 27 2011)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Croda is honoured to be the first raw material supplier to have a range of ingredients recognised by the British Skin Foundation (BSF) and it seems fitting that it’s their Medilan range that received the accolade. Medilan is the trade mark for Croda’s medical grade lanolin and the product that Croda was founded on back in 1925.

Medilan is a unique natural emollient, used widely in cosmetics and medicated skin care products to augment the functions of the human skin lipids. By replenishing the essential lipids of the skin, Medilan is able to accelerate the repair of the skin’s natural barrier function, whilst simultaneously protecting against microbial infection.

To achieve such recognition, the BSF has independently validated the vast research Croda has undertaken on its Medilan range to ensure that Medilan delivers the skin health benefits it is renowned for. The assessment was conducted by three leading UK dermatologists, who reviewed a dossier detailing the composition, manufacture and research linked to the skin care ingredient.

Matthew Patey, CEO of British Skin Foundation commented ‘Having reviewed the extensive research dossiers and personally interviewed Croda’s R&D team, BSF representative dermatologists concluded that Medilan fulfils its stated objectives and, above all, is not detrimental to skin health. In addition, the panel appreciate Croda’s extensive research heritage in the lanolin field. The British Skin Foundation is therefore delighted to award Medilan its badge of research recognition.’

‘After dedicating decades to research and developing clinical data in the area of lanolin, it is great to see that Croda’s Medilan range has been recognised in this way’, said Laura Kelly, Marketing Manager of Croda Health Care, ‘BSF is demanding in the level of detail they requested on the Medilan range, but with a wealth of research in this area we felt confident that such recognition would be achieved.’
