Cosmetic Dentistry and Braces

Added: (Tue Oct 06 2009)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Cosmetic dentistry procedures such as porcelain veneers have the ability to change the look of crooked and unsightly teeth. Sometimes, however, this is not enough and a combination of braces and porcelain veneers may be needed.

Why have braces and veneers?

Sometimes if teeth are very out of alignment it would be virtually impossible to prepare the teeth for porcelain veneers without disturbing the nerves of the teeth and in that case root canal treatment is necessary.
Teeth can be pre-straightened using braces before the cosmetic dentist prepares the teeth for porcelain veneers. This would conserve the vitality of the teeth.

How Long Would it Take?

Depending on the severity of the crooked teeth it could take from a few months to up to two years of wearing braces before the teeth can be prepared for porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers can be done in a relatively short period of time and in as little as two to three visits.

What Types of Braces Are There?

Types of braces available are:
Damon braces - train track style
Inman Aligner – removable invisible braces – quick way of straightening front teeth
Clearstep – invisible braces – good for complicated cases

How Much Will it Cost?

The cost of braces starts at around £1500. The cost of porcelain veneers is a little different in each person’s case. It is advisable to have a consultation with a cosmetic dentist to find out which type of treatment is best for you.

Perfect Smile Spa is a cosmetic dental practice that specialises in clear braces and porcelain veneers.
