Pressbox (Press Release) -
The Academy Award winning make-up and hair designer Christine Blundell has founded a new school of makeup in Camden, north London. The Christine Blundell Make-Up Academy (CB MA) now offers students a three- month full time make up course integrating the theoretical and practical aspects of make up and hair design in the film industry.
The professional makeup school is the brainchild of Christine Blundell who has had a glamorous career in film makeup for the last 20 years. Her impressive CV spans from being the hair designer in Martin Campbell’s Casino Royale,(make-up designer) Mike Leigh's Topsy Turvy and Peter Cattaneo's Full Monty among a host of others, to movies still in production such as Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. She has won an Oscar beside several BAFTA nominations and awards for her prolific work for such productions as Topsy Turvy, for which she won an Oscar. As the principal of the make-up school, she offers the most authentic first hand experience of the dynamic industry from what she has done and is still doing as a celebrity make up designer.
She has personally designed the make-up courses based on her extensive experience in the film industry. The courses are enriched by the practical approach of what is relevant and useful in the job market, once a student graduates. Occasionally, CBMA hosts celebrity make up artists from the film industry for lectures and afternoon tea, where students are exposed to the best brains in contemporary film productions. On August this year for instance, the academy hosted Grainne Marmion, the reputed producer of award winning programs and films.
Facilitated by tutors who have working knowledge of the film industry, students who enrol in the school for makeup courses have a chance to interact with and learn from genuine experience. Most of the staff members at CBMA are professionals in the make up industry with past and ongoing engagements in their area of specialisation. The academy is also offering advanced courses that are very flexible and interactive.
CBMA graduates are also offered an ‘After-Care’ package that guides and assist them to find employments in the film industry as soon as they are through with their make up courses. With an impressive list of alumnae, CBMA is fast becoming a family of successful make up artists.
