CHILD PSYCHOTHERAPY TRUST IS HIGHLY COMMENDED IN INTERNATIONAL AWARD

Pressbox (Press Release) - London, 28 February 2002 - A child psychotherapy centre in North London is only one in ten UK charities to be highly commended and receive £1,000 in the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) International IMPACT Awards 2002.

The Child Psychotherapy Trust advocates a child-centred approach in dealing with children with emotional problems. The Trust’s aim is to raise awareness of parents and those working with children in the importance of listening to the child, paying attention to the child’s experiences and feelings and the significance of parent child relationships.

The organisation also tackles the lack of child psychotherapists employed by the NHS across the UK by raising funds to support the training of child psychotherapists.

The International IMPACT Awards, now in their fifth year, are run by GSK in partnership with the King’s Fund, a leading independent health charity. The awards reward small-to medium-sized registered charities with a proven track record in community health care. Ten UK charities receive £25,000 while ten highly commended projects receive £1000. The scheme is running concurrently with a sister initiative in Philadelphia, USA, which is the US headquarters of GlaxoSmithKline.
