Pressbox (Press Release) -
A team of doctors, healthcare professionals and writers are launching Bio-Hormone-Health.com in response to a long-standing demand from women for informed, unbiased information on natural hormones.
This new website is aimed at helping women learn more about natural alternatives to HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and synthetic hormones and combines articles on the latest news and research in the field with practical advice from doctors experienced in prescribing bio-identical hormone treatments.
"Women are increasingly concerned about the risks of taking HRT but unless you are lucky enough to have a doctor that prescribes natural alternatives you've had nowhere to go to for the information you need to make an informed choice." said AnnA Rushton, the editor of Bio-Hormone-Health.com and a consistent champion of natural hormones through her articles, books and talks.
Features on the site cover topics such as how to come off HRT, the difference between HRT and bio-identical hormones and explanations of hormone related conditions such as osteoporosis, PMS and menopause symptoms.
Over the past ten years women have voted with their feet by seeking out natural alternatives to the synthetic hormones found in HRT and the Pill. However, while the dangers of HRT are now widely accepted, information on natural hormones has often been hard to find.
"Many women are left confused about what to do. They read about the risks of HRT which has been proven to increase the risk of the incidence of cancer, strokes, heart disease and other chronic conditions. As editor, I want to offer women choice and information to ensure they achieve hormone health” said AnnA Rushton today.
Dame Dr Shirley Bond is one of the UK’s foremost private doctors and has been a specialist in women’s hormone health and osteoporosis for over 20 years from her practice at the London Medical Centre. "I am very proud to have worked with Dr John Lee, who introduced the use of natural progesterone cream in the 80's and 90's. Dr Lee always maintained that his mission was to put women in a position to make an informed decision about their hormone health. That's exactly what I'm hoping this new website can achieve." Dr Bond’s articles and answers to women’s frequently asked questions will be a regular feature on the site.
Dr Tony Coope has been a GP for 25 years and will be posting a twice monthly column on the site. "While menopause symptoms tend to steal the limelight I'm keen to help women learn about the wider benefits of bio-identical hormones such as their benefits in preventing osteoporosis, one of the biggest causes of death in the western world."
AnnA Rushton comments: "The most common argument I hear against the use of bio-identical hormones is that they have not been subjected to a formal drug approval process so how can we know they are safe? The reality is that there have been trials of natural progesterone and with thousands of doctors prescribing bio-identical hormones around the world and millions of women using them it’s fair to say this constitutes a body of evidence, overwhelmingly compelling, that natural hormones are safe and effective.”
Future plans for the site include introducing a forum for women to discuss their experiences and assist one another in finding the best treatments.
