Principles for determining the pricing and the degree of care
“The Commission For Determining The Degree of Care “ formed at our center determines the prices of the care services for the patients resident at the center. This commission is made up of a physician, a social worker and a nurse. The following components are used in determining the degree of care:

*Evaluation of Daily Life Activities ,

*Standard Mini Mental Test,

*Evaluation of Chronic Diseases

The cumulating of the degrees obtained from these three components shows the degree of care.

1. Evaluation of Daily Life Activities (DLA)

Following twelve categories are evaluated and for each category 1-2-3 points are given:

*the utilization of bathroom

*putting on the clothes

*usage of toilet

*mobilization

*nourishment

*usage of telephone

*shopping

*cleaning

*arranging things in order

*transportation

*usage of medicine

*return of money

At the end of the evaluation a total of 12-36 is obtained. The higher the total point the higher the rate of dependency in the daily activities. Degree of Daily Life Activities is determined according to the following table:

Total DLA Point
Result DLA Degree

12-20 Standard
0

21-29 Partially Dependent
1

30-36 Totally Dependent
2

2. Standard Mini Mental Test

Standard Mini Mental Test is used in the evaluation of the mental functions. The total of the points obtained from the evaluation of time, location, quick memory, attention-calculation, memory, language, repetition, reading, writing and structuring functions gives the Mini Mental Point. The total obtained at this test ranges from 0 to 30. The lower the total point the lower the mental functions. Mini Mental (MM) Degree is determined according to the following table:

Total MM Point
Result MM Degree

21-30 Low
0

11-20 Medium
1

0-10 Heavy
2

3. Evaluation of Chronically Diseases (CD)

Diseases observed especially over the age of 60 and life support equipment and attempts are classified in two categories, depending on the increased need for care and risk factors increasing morbidity and mortality. While the diseases in one category are of that sort necessitating lower degree of care and with low risk for morbidity and mortality, in the other category are found the diseases necessitating high degree of care and with higher risk for morbidity and mortality.

Evaluation is made within the perspective of needs of care and the possible risk factors. Those patients having one or more high-risk diseases are considered to belong to the high risk group. Those patients who do not have a high-risk disease but one or more middle-risk diseases are considered to belong to the middle-risk group, while those patients with no disease in the high or middle risk group, are considered to belong to the low risk group. Based on the risk group the patient belongs to ,0,1,2 points are given.

The Evaluation of The Degree of Care:

The total of DLA value, MM value and CD value shows the Degree of Care. This value ranges from 0 to 6. This value makes it possible for us to determine quantitatively and objectively the degree of care the patient will need during the period he/ she stays at our center. The higher the degree of care the higher the need of the care and the medical risk. Therefore, based on the degree of care, the services to be given for a standard charge and situations for extra charge can be defined.
