AMBITION 24HOURS FOUNDER PENNY STREETER WINS

Added: (Sat Dec 06 2003)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Ambition 24hours founder and managing director Penny Streeter has won the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ in the CBI’s ‘Growing Business Awards 2003’. Ambition 24hours provides private nursing care at home at any time, day or night, and was the fastest growing company last year (source: Fast Track 2003). Further information is at www.A24homecare.co.uk .

Penny Streeter, 36, set up Ambition 24hours seven years ago and revenue has grown to £80 million. Growth has all been organic - at 256 per cent each year – and there are no outside shareholders or borrowings, other than for immediate cash-flow purposes.

Ambition 24hours offers private nursing care at home throughout the UK – for example following an operation, for respite care and home support for children and for the elderly - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at fees from under £14 per hour. A specialist healthcare personnel agency, with some 13,500 qualified nurses and care assistants, the company has worked with major hospitals and GP practices to meet their needs for experienced medical personnel, according to managing director Penny Streeter.

The home care service offers professional medical assessment by qualified nurses, through a home visit, in consultation with each patient’s medical practitioner and any nominated family members. Following this, a schedule of care is agreed – which can be provided on a daily or weekly basis, for example – and may be varied or cancelled by the patient with just 24 hour’s notice, as needs change.

Penny Streeter, managing director of Ambition 24Hours Direct, says:-

“ As a busy mother of four children and office worker myself, I know how important it is to be able to arrange care quickly and easily. This is why we developed a service that offers 24-hours a day telephone booking. The launch of the home service by Ambition 24hours was in response to the increasing number of recommendations we received from hospitals – already using our nurses for their own needs - to provide nursing support to former patients at home, often at very short notice.”

A wide range of nursing care is available: respite care, discharge and post-operative patient support, as well as pediatric, geriatric, stroke, cancer, and mental health care at home. The web www.a24homecare.co.uk provides advice on the support available – whether with a qualified nurse or a care assistant.
