Workhouse victims still exist, ask Anna Wotton who is living under the constant threat of harassment whilst living in a Devon Almshouse.
Mrs. Wotton a retired translator has been the victim of several incidents of harassment from a fellow resident of the Law Memorial Houses in North Devon, yet the trustees of the Almshouse have failed to acknowledge her plight.
Mrs. Wotton has reported several incidents to Devon and Cornwall Police, who have told her that they cannot apply the harassment act to what they see as neighbourly disputes.
The Law Memorial Trust, whose administrator is Mr. Toby Barnes, himself a solicitor, seem loathe to get involved. Ms. Wotton whose summerhouse and shed were last night set alight and raised to the ground said. 'I am not giving in, I'm fighting for my human rights and the rights of others like me who do not get the support and help they are entitled to.'
'I have contacted the Charities Commission and my MP as I do not understand why in this day and age, residents of Almshouses should be treated as if we are still in the workhouse with no rights at all.'
