PRESS RELEASE:

Western Australian Technology Measures Up Against Climate Change

Representatives from the worlds largest manufacturer of solar hot water systems, Solahart, met last week with the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at the Western Australian Government, European Office in London.

This timely meeting was to introduce Mr Denis Avery and Mr Herman Rens of Solahart to Mr John Buckley of the DTI Renewable Energy Trade Promotion Service, and discuss ways to work together and develop the solar water heating industry in the UK, including methods such as education and improving technology.

Mr Herman Rens of Solahart said:
“A recent study of the Bremer Energy Institute concludes that solar thermal (hot water) has by far the least environmental impact of water heating methods. We believe governments should focus on this technology to ensure the largest positive effect on the environment in shortest possible time”

“Solar power harnesses free energy from the sun and gives each homeowner the ability to have a positive impact on the environment and on the measures to offset climate change.”

Solahart produce solar water heaters as a viable alternative to conventional water heating.

One of their more recent clients is Nelson Mandela, who is leading by example to promote cleaner energy.

By replacing a conventional system with a solar water heater, you can reduce your water heating energy consumption by 50-90% and save up to 3-4 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year (that’s the equivalent of taking a small car off the road).

Noel Ashcroft, Agent General of the Western Australian Government, European Office also commented:
“My office welcomes the opportunity to facilitate discussions such as these that will ultimately move us all toward a common goal, which is to manage our use of resources in a sustainable way”.

NOTES:
- Solahart is a Western Australian company and have been manufacturing since 1905 and introduced its first solar water heater in 1953.
