Transport Direct provides a journey planner and travel information for both car and public transport across the whole of Great Britain. The website, which recently launched a cycle planner and a car park finder, recorded its 50 millionth user session earlier this year.
The Good Communication Awards recognise excellence in public sector communication. Other nominees in the Central Government website category included BERR's Better Regulation Executive and DCLG's Eco Towns.
As more low carbon buses are produced and sold, costs will reduce. This will encourage bus technology and will stimulate the market for low carbon buses, an industry in which the UK is a world leader.
The awards were presented by comedian Hugh Dennis at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on Wednesday 8 July.
