MAGNA CARTA DAY – JUNE 15th
Members of the National Liberal party are celebrating Magna Carta Day (June 15th) with a 'Money bomb'. They are asking all citizens concerned with the growing power of the State and the consequent loss of personal liberties to make a mass donation to Liberty on the actual day.
With Party blessing members have created videos (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5wt5j-iLyw) and a website www.15thjunemagnacarta.org for visitors to pledge and later leave donations on the 15th. They hope to emulate the use of one-day Money bombs in the US, which have been particularly successful for US Libertarians such as Ron Paul.
National Secretary David Durant said “We are all concerned about the growth of a Big Brother state in the U.K. One or two members suggested that there must be tens of thousands of liberty supporters in the U.K. and this idea is not only a way of helping fund liberty projects but would be fun for the participants as well.. We don’t think that anyone has tried this before in the U.K. so hopefully participants can make history too!”
Supporters are asking for 10,000 citizens to donate at least £10 ($20) each on the Sunday of June 15th.
