Families fight for fresh daily pinta
Angry families across the UK are rallying round to sign a petition organised by www.pleasemiss.co.uk, demanding that larger retailers re-think their dairy pricing strategies.
In a recent survey conducted by www.pleasemiss.co.uk, 95% of families said they would be prepared to pay a fairer price to save their fresh British pinta.
In response to recent news media reports that British dairy farmers are going out of business at a rate of ONE PER DAY, parents have decided to use their massive collective voice to make a stand against supermarkets who squeeze dairy farmers so hard that they go out of business.
Within 5 years we will be importing milk from our European neighbours. One of the reasons for this is the low prices that our major retailers are giving farmers and cooperatives for their milk.
Sue Doyle, founder of pleasemiss.co.uk said:
‘We will be lobbying these retailers to re-think their pricing strategies for farmers – we have the backing of British parents who are concerned that their children will be denied fresh British milk in the future. And if the retailers don’t listen, we’ll boycott their stores for a whole week, which should get their attention. Waitrose are already campaigning for fairer treatment of farmers – all we ask is that other retailers do the same.’
Parents have been emailing pleasemiss.co.uk with support for their petition and the organisation will write to the larger supermarkets and ask them to review their policies – if they refuse, then they have the ability to force them to listen – by voting with their feet.
Anyone wishing to join the petition should email sue@pleasemiss.co.uk with the message: YES – WE’LL PAY A FAIRER PRICE TO SAVE OUR FRESH DAILY BRITISH PINTA.
Thank you.
