ELEMENTAL INNOVATION LAUNCHES NEW HALO SECURITY WAVE ATTENUATOR TOPROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE PROTECTION

West Caldwell, NJ, October 18, 2003 – Elemental Innovation, Inc, a leading engineering firm, announces the
launch of its latest invention, HALO SECURITY™ wave attenuator for port security. The eco-friendly, tunable
HALO SECURITY acts as a security barrier to protect investments and welfare from covert underwater incursion.
By retarding and preventing motion, HALO SECURITY makes certain that intruders cannot easily enter protected
areas.
For added protection, HALO SECURITY can be configured with a multitude of technologies including, reinforced
steel cables, light sensors, motion sensors, warning signs, surface detection units, anti-intrusion instruments,
swimmer detection devices and capture nets both on the surface and underwater.
HALO SECURITY is designed to facilitate Homeland Security initiatives of the US Navy, US Coast Guard, and US
Army, and groups such as the US Army Corps of Engineers to provide protection for beaches, harbors, ports,
military bases, dams, power plants, bridges, nuclear reactors, and vessels.
The patented HALO technology is a concentration of vertically oriented, linear low density, non-toxic
polyethylene panels that are secured by rubber and steel cabling. The panels are connected to form a vertical
and horizontal face in a row. Hoop connectors joined in the center of each row connect multiple panels. This
allows the structure to recoil under extreme wave conditions and then rest. The hoops allow the force exerted
upon the HALO to be transferred to the energy absorbing cables and dramatically reduces the stress on the
structure. Since the panels of the HALO are tapered, the progress of a wave is slowed and the jets of water
dissipate between rows of panels.
HALO SECURITY wave attenuator is the latest invention by Justin Bishop. Mr. Bishop is the inventor and original
patent owner of the WhisprWave® wave attenuator, which has been successfully deployed for four years and
can now be seen at the Naval Amphibious Base in Norfolk, Virginia. While the WhisprWave can reduce a 5
second wave by up to 40% in height, tremendous improvements can be found in the HALO, which can reduce a
5 second wave by an unprecedented 80% in height.
Extensive test studies have been conducted on the HALO at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ and
Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
