DAVID DAVIS IS RIGHT!
The brave and noble decision of MP David Davis to resign his seat over the passing of the 42 days (Detention without trial) Bill is to be applauded.
There was no reason for him to do so except to allow this important matter i.e. the erosion of our Civil Liberties to be debated by the people who will be the ultimate sufferers.
National Liberal Party Secretary David Durant said "His gamble allows the debate to be brought to the people and we must all thank Mr Davis for that. In his magnificent resignation speech he referred to the importance and legacy of the Magna Carta. This document declared that citizens have a right not to be imprisoned by the state without charge or reason.
This is why the NLP is urging citizens to donate to Liberty on the anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta this Sunday 15th June (see http://www.15thjunemagnacarta.org. He may be in a different party but in this instance Mr Davis is right!"
