SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS!
Today sees the entry of Rooftop Mortgages Ltd into the specialist lending market with a competitive range of niche and adverse products. With lending in the UK currently running at around £20 billion per month, it’s estimated that around 1 in 4 borrowers experience some difficulty in arranging a loan and may need to use a specialist lender. Rooftop Mortgages will initially lend through the intermediary market using the newly created Mortgage Distributor Co-operative, chaired by The Mortgage Operation managing director, Mark Charlesworth. Commenting on the partnership, Mark said “We’re very pleased to welcome a brand new lender onto the Co-operative’s panel, which is in itself a new initiative. With access to the £7bn per annum distribution that the Mortgage Distributors Co-operative commands I am confident that Rooftop Mortgages will have a successful entry into the highly competitive UK niche mortgage market.”
Rooftop Mortgages has been created by the long-established servicer, Crown Mortgage Management, who will service the portfolio. Funding has been secured with a warehouse line from Bear Stearns, a leading international investment bank. Head of Rooftop Mortgages is Jonathan Naylor, based at Crown’s London office, who added; “We believe there is capacity in the market for this type of specialist lending and that our product offering and service will quickly establish us as a key player. “
