Pressbox (Press Release) - According to e-MasterTrade analytical forecast on Thursday, January 22, 2004 Nasdaq will vary 2116.21-2171.43 and close at 2120.80-2163.58.

The Walt Disney Company (DIS) quotation will vary 24.08-25.02 and close at 24.33-24.87.

Dow Jones rallied while Nasdaq Composite declined on Wednesday, January 21, 2004.
The blue chips Dow Jones industrial average increased 94.96 points (0.90%), to 10,623.62. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 8.85 points (0.78%) to 1,147.62. Both indices showed its highest close since March 2002. The technology laced Nasdaq Composite Index declined 5.53 points (0.26%), to 2,142.45.

Volume was active, about 1.7 billion shares changed hands on the New York Stock Exchange, and 2.4 billion shares traded on the Nasdaq.

"It's not a day for stocks that have done well of late. I think the gains are earnings driven," said Brian Pears, head equity trader at Victory Capital Management in Cleveland.

The most active companies were Intel Corp (-0.41), Cisco Corp (-0.26), RFMD (-2.41), Sun Microsystems (+0.073), JDSU (-0.352), Lucent tech (-0.33), AWE (+0.60), CPN (+0.14), Nortel networks (-0.14).

Merrill Lynch (MER), -$0.58 to $59.60, reported fourth-quarter net income of $1.23 per share, including a gain of 5 cents from insurance recoveries. Analysts, on average, expected Merrill to post fourth-quarter earnings per share of $1.02, according to a Thomson First Call poll.
