Moneysprite in the green with your money
Added: (Mon Mar 20 2006)
The London based mortgage, insurance and personal finance provider, Moneysprite, has this week revealed moves to become more ecologically sustainable. As an innovative web and telephone based UK financial brokerage company, the Hammersmith based operation has this week signed up to the Climate Care charter for carbon offsetting.
The system requires members to assess their carbon usage by calculating miles travelled by employees on various methods of transport and also office space energy needs. Once the annual CO2 emissions has been determined the company pays a tariff per tonne to Climate Care who invest the money back into green projects like renewable energy or tree planting to allow a neutral status to be achieved.
The company has also agreed plans to transfer stationery on to recycled, chlorine free paper within the next month. Incidentally the majority of Moneysprite’s internal operations are already paperless, with documents being held electronically instead of hardcopy.
Services offered by Moneysprite include life, critical illness, unemployment, home, car, travel and motorbike cover along with independent advice on mortgages at www.moneysprite.com .
Moneysprite managing director Ashley Brown said “As a company we have always aimed to act responsibly with natural resources, and this is a progression of this goal. Now our customers can rest assured that not only can they still rely on our great product offerings and advice, but that our company is socially aware. I hope other companies not already doing so, will follow our lead.”
