Harvest Digital wins Zopa account
Digital creative and media campaign to recruit ‘freeformers’ to the world’s first peer-to-peer financial exchange

LONDON 21 July, 2005…Online marketing agency, Harvest Digital, has won the digital account for financial services start-up Zopa, the world’s first lending and borrowing exchange. Harvest Digital will be working as part of a tightly integrated team alongside Zopa’s other agencies (Karmarama – communications platform; Sputnik – PR; Mediacom – offline media).

William Corke, Managing Partner at Harvest Digital explains: ’Zopa is aimed at freeforming individuals who are no longer willing to be sold to en masse or to be defined by what they buy. They are looking to break free from the norms, to be more entrepreneurial and innovative, and are motivated by making a social return on their investment as well as a financial one. Zopa offers an alternative. It enables people to borrow and lend money in a profitable, personal and controllable way.’

Commenting on the appointment, Richard Duvall CEO of Zopa says: ‘Harvest Digital impressed us with their financial expertise and their understanding of the Zopa brand. Their approach will recruit our target audience of financially savvy individuals who are keen to cut out the banks.’

Duvall continues: ‘In the commercial world, much of the growth is in the areas that offer people the chance to do things their own way. We have created Zopa for a group of people who would rather lend and borrow directly from each other, thereby cutting out the bank.’

Established this year, Zopa’s management team including the founders of Egg and former employees of Abbey and Tesco Personal Finance. The name originates from the ‘zone of possible agreement’ between potential lenders and borrowers. Zopa takes a one per cent exchange fee on transactions.

About Zopa
Zopa is a place where creditworthy people who want to borrow money can get together with people who are happy to lend it to them. And because there's no middleman - the borrower just pays a 1% exchange fee to Zopa up front - both get a great deal.
