Boogles PR - Boogles Game Release
Added: (Mon Sep 22 2008)
Boogles have now released their first maths game to ‘add’ fun and ‘take away’ the pain of mathematics. It’s a simple to use and easy to understand computer game. Players have a choice of questions – addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, or a mixture of all 4. And there are 3 levels – easy, medium and hard. It’s suitable for primary school aged children, and they can sit and practise their mental maths skills against the clock to try and win the game. If the player answers incorrectly, the correct answer will pop up, so they are learning maths. And 3 incorrect answers results in the end of the game. Questions are generated at random, and it keeps you thinking quickly.
It is an ingenious product for a bookkeeping company whose primary service is actually bookkeeping. Boogles recently moved to target solicitors books, and then to children, as they spotted a gap in the market whereby many of their new female clients were ‘mumpreneurs’ (mums turned entrepreneur) and they wanted to be able to provide a service for the children as well as the business mums. Hence, the Boogles kids club was formed.
“Club membership is on an annual basis. Members receive a goody bag packed with items to help them save and understand how money works, and get regular correspondence from Boogles. It’s very exclusive.” Said Sarah Pare, Office Manager of Boogles, and mother of a 5 year old. “My daughter was one of the kids who pilot tested the game, and she’s really enjoyed playing it.
Boogles won an enterprising business award in February 2008, and as part of the prize, a student was given a project to work on, and this was it – designing a children’s maths game.
Company founder, Lisa Newton added: “When I first began the business, people always thought ‘Boogles’ had something to do with children. I’ve been asked if I’m a children’s entertainer before! So it has always been in the master plan to do something for Kids. Boogles is a cartoon character and it fits in well in the children’s market.”
The Boogles maths game can be downloaded or bought by mail order.
