CapitalWave and Coventry University Announce that the student teams for the 2011 University Trading Challenge has been set.

Some of the world’s leading trading firms will watch closely as the country’s best student traders put their knowledge to the test in a competition that culminates at the Coventry University London Campus December 2, 2011.

(NEW YORK CITY, NY) – CapitalWave, announced that the following Universities are sending teams to compete in the University Trading Challenge, a realistic capital markets trading competition designed for Undergraduate and Graduate students seeking degrees in finance, economics, business and mathematics.

The participating universities are:
City University London / Cass Business School
University of Greenwich
University of Brighton
Coventry University
Cranfield University
University of Darby
Middlesex University
Kingston University London and
UCL or University College London

The University Trading Challenge is scheduled for December 2nd at Coventry University’s London Campus. Coventry University was the first in the world to implement CapitalWave’s industry leading simulation platform.

The competition requires student teams to tackle three distinct challenges and demonstrate their aptitude for consistently picking and executing trading strategies. All teams entering the competition will use CapitalWave’s trading software for each challenge:

• Long Term Portfolio Challenge
• Short Term Trading Challenge
• Case-study Presentation Challenge

“The student teams will trade using in two of the most sophisticated capital market simulations in the world. Additionally they will be required to present their solution to a case-study before a panel of professionals who will judge their presentations. The Long Term Trading Challenge will started November 1st, student teams , over 30 days using the CapitalRNTS (Real News Trading Simulation), manage a base portfolio consisting of equity, fixed income contracts, Forex, metals, Agra’s, and index contract valued based on opening prices recorded by global exchanges. The purpose of the challenge is to have the teams focus on the impact of news at how it relates toward the price volatility of various instruments and how to manage a portfolio given these stories.

On December 2nd, the Short Term Trading Challenge will take place in Coventry University’s Trading Center in London using the CapitalCMS (Capital Market Simulator).

In the Presentation Challenge, students have received a case-study based on modern market situation, from which they will have to formulate a financial strategy for a client presentation and risk assessment. The student team conclusions will be presented to a panel of judges.

These 10 universities have registered 20 student teams to participate.
