Pressbox (Press Release) -
As part of the first ‘Countryside Love Day’ at Newbury Racecourse, online community MuddyMatches.co.uk will be offering a unique ‘muddy’ speed dating experience for single racegoers.
Countryside Love Day falls on Saturday April 12th and, with some quality racing to round off the Jumps season, it promises to be a really fun and original day. Not only will it be a great event for a romantic day out, but single racegoers can try something a little different and meet some like-minded people by taking part in one of three speed dating sessions being held over the course of the afternoon in the Pre-Parade Ring Pavilions.
“Spring is in the air”, says Kate Walthew, Marketing Manager at Newbury Racecourse, “and we get lots of people who come racing in groups so we thought it would be great to organise some speed dating with Muddy Matches for those that want to have a bit of a laugh and, who knows, they may find their perfect match at the races. Racing definitely gets the heart pumping and this should too!”
“Newbury is renowned for its fun and friendly atmosphere”, says Lucy Reeves, of Muddy Matches, “and with our website being aimed at country-minded, or ‘muddy’, people we jumped at the chance to get involved in an event where the majority of the attendees will be no strangers to a bit of mud!
The idea behind speed dating is to meet a lot of people in a short amount of time; every participant gets the opportunity to spend 3 or 4 minutes chatting to each member of the opposite sex and must then make a note of which of their ‘dates’ they would like to see again, either romantically or as a friend. A day or two later, they are informed of any matches and given their contact details.
“It’s a tried and tested formula”, says Lucy, “and a really fun way to meet some new people. Sometimes participants worry that they will not have enough to say to some of their ‘dates’ but the joy of hosting it at a race day such as this is that everyone taking part will automatically have some common ground.”
Tickets and Information
The speed dating is open to all ages and participants will be divided into appropriate age groups on the day. Tickets cost £5 (which includes a week’s subscription to Muddy Matches) and can be bought in advance from www.muddymatches.co.uk/events. Race day tickets must be bought separately; for bookings visit www.newbury-racecourse.co.uk/Racing.aspx or call 01635 40015.
To increase people’s chances of finding a perfect match, Newbury Racecourse will also be running a Luxury Blind Date competition. Look out for more details in the racecard on the day.
