Mention the word wedding and the entire family has a word of advise. After all they have got their sons and daughters married – they have first-hand experience. But each parent has a dream – to have a unique wedding – an affair that people would remember for a long time. Fortunately or unfortunately, people just don’t stop with what should be done and how it should be done. Wedding exhibitions offer a peek into what parents can do to make a wedding truly a grand affair. And Vivah Wedding exhibition at Ashok Hotel came to the rescue. Organized each year, the exhibition offers all the services that are associated with a wedding.
From wedding planners who would take on your headache of running from pillar to post, to florists, to designers, to jewellers, to what gifts one can give, to caterers the list is endless. What makes this annual event a must see is that each year the latest trends are show cased. One doesn’t really need to go hunting for the latest in fashion or even in jewellery. The market comes to you under one big roof. So one would have 30-40 designers, each having their own signature style. This makes it easy to browse through whatever one is looking for. The greatest advantage being that one can compare the prices, which are very competitive. This year, zardozi work with stone seems to be the buzzword. Whether it is a saree, salwar-kurta or even a lehenga, gold thread work with stones studded all over is in fashion.
Is it the soaring prices of gold that people have now shifted to buying diamonds? Or is it because diamonds have always been a girl’s best friend that has made it a hot seller for 2009? Well, whatever the reason, the sparkling stone studded in gold with white polish is a crowd puller this wedding. From diamond bangles, to bracelets, to necklaces, to loops, to engagement rings the sparkle in each kiosk was enough to blind any person. From traditional designs to the modern, from light to heavy sets, there was much to see to keep one busy for hours without having to move to another kiosk. Though perfumed flower ball hangings had made an appearance last season, it seems to have come out in full blast in this one. If the smell doesn’t attract you, the beautiful exotic flowers are sure to pull at your heart strings. Just decorating the place of marriage with flowers is passé. Go for the flower balls and add a few disco balls for a dramatic effect.
A wedding without food? Definitely not possible. Even 5-Star hotels have upgraded their services. Everything has to be perfect. Especially food. Hyatt Regency has come out with all guns in order to provide with a wedding package that will make it a dining experience not to be forgotten. Besides the usual greeting by the flaming marshals at the entrance, there is valet parking passes of up to 20 people, menu tasting for four people, etc. And if this was not good enough, there is 15 per cent discount at Mehrasons in case there is a confirmed booking with Hyatt.
