Woman’s Fight Takes Flight in this Heartfelt Account About Overcoming Odds

Following a major stroke, Donna Markov learned to talk, walk and live again after years of therapy. Her book “Easy to Give Up… Hard to Fight” chronicles the challenges she faced and how she overcame them.
Cambridge, ON –September 2005 – When Donna Markov was released from hospital following a major stroke, the doctors recommended her family place her in a long-term care facility and labelled her a “vegetable” as she could no longer walk, talk or write. Her supportive family would hear none of it and took her home to care for her themselves.
Displaying enormous courage and determination, Donna spent many years in hospitals and rehabilitation centres to eventually take control of her body and relearn many of the skills she lost as a result of the stroke. She credits her grandmother for the stubbornness which enabled her to overcome her physical limitations. “She had a great influence on my life, and helped to shape elements in my character that would be of tremendous help to me later in life,” says Donna. Her grandchildren also played a valuable part in helping her.
Donna fought against the odds and never gave up. She encourages others to follow her example and achieve their own personal goals. In her book, she recounts the many trials she faced, and provides inspiration and hope to other stroke victims who are willing to work to once again become valuable citizens in this world where it is easy to give up and hard to fight.
