Winner takes all at SugarHill

Added: (Tue Jul 12 2005)

Pressbox (Press Release) - (HOUSTON, TEXAS) – July 11th, 2005 – Stillframe, winners of the annual Rockin for Rise/Battle of the Bands concert, received a lucrative prize package of free recording time at the legendary SugarHill Recording Studios in May 2005. The award was donated by SugarHill to support the annual concert organized by The Rise School of Houston to raise funds for pre-school children with Downs Syndrome and other disabilities.

The lucky winners recorded during the month of June where they tracked and mixed a new song in SugarHill’s Studio A with Staff Engineer Leigh Crain. The new song, “On Your Own” was tracked to 2” analog tape and then transferred to Protools.

Stillframe are a 5-piece, heavy alternative rock band from Houston that have been playing for the past 3 years and are notorious for their big sound in live shows. They decided to emulate their live show experience and go for an even bigger sound during tracking. “We used different guitar cabinets including a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and a Rectoverb to get that fat sound”, explained lead singer Will Wadkins.

The new song will be released on an upcoming EP where the band plans to shop it to various labels and distribution deals. The song will also receive airplay on Clear Channel’s Alternative/Rock radio station “The Buzz” 94.5FM where it will be featured on the popular Texas Buzz show, hosted by Zakk United.
