The Tremeloes to perform at the Isle Casino in Coventry

Added: (Wed Jan 07 2009)

Pressbox (Press Release) - One of today’s most sought-after bands who shot to fame in the 1960s will be performing at The Isle Casino on the outskirts of Bedworth.

The Tremeloes had a string of top ten hits with Twist & Shout, Here Comes My Baby, Silence is Golden and Do You Love Me.

The Tremeloes still have two members of the original line-up – lead vocalist Dave Munden and guitarist Rick West – performing their greatest hits.

The band, who continue to have a packed touring schedule, will be performing in Lady G’s entertainment bar on Friday, January 23 along with musicians Jeff Brown and Joe Gillingham. Admission is free.

Val Saunders, of The Isle Casino, said The Tremeloes were one of Britain’s most successful rock bands of the Swinging Sixties.

“This promises to be a fantastic way to launch our 2009 entertainments programme,” he said.

“The Tremeloes are famous for being chosen ahead of The Beatles by Decca when they auditioned on the same day.

“The Tremeloes forged a long and successful career in an industry during the 1960s which was packed with talented singers and musicians.

“Their hits are just as well known today which proves their longevity and I’m sure they will be a big hit with a whole new generation of fans as well as those who remember them from the first time around – including myself!

“Lady G’s was the winner of the Godiva Award 2008 for best live performance venue and The Tremeloes will sound great in there.

“We will be having a mix of original artists and tribute acts in Lady G’s throughout the year as The Isle Casino continues to offer a varied entertainment programme to prove that we are more than just a gaming destination.”

Entry is free.
