ONLINE AUCTION 12-22/09/05 – ALL FUNDS GO TO SIGHT SAVING CHARITY
Top celebrities including Patrick Swayze, Jerry Springer and Dame Judi Dench have got together to help International Sight Saving charity CBM, www.cbmuk.org.uk, by autographing a stunning range of exclusive pottery items. The items will be auctioned on Ebay from the 12th to the 22nd of September at www.cbmuk.org.uk/uk/pottery.htm.
Exclusive auction items will include a Blue Peter skateboard box, a Crystal Palace money box and plate, and other autographed items with distinctive inscriptions from the likes of Crystal Palace, the Bill and East Enders cast, Anthea Turner, Zoe Wanamaker, Richard Briers, Sharron Davies, Tamzin Outhwaite, Liz Dawn, Kacey Ainsworth, Claire Goose, Jeremy Sheffield, Raza Jaffrey, Michelle Ryan, Simon Thomas, Tony Blackburn and Keith Chegwin.
CBM work in 108 countries and on 4 continents. The charity is the world’s largest non-governmental agency working towards the cure and prevention of blindness in the developing world. Imaginative fund raising activities this year have included tandem sky dives, fun runs and even a meal in the dark. The highlight of the calendar will be the auction, which is the brainchild of Angela Locke, the inspired creator of Hothouse Pottery.
“We can’t thank Angela enough for her support and for the exquisite handmade pottery pieces that she has donated for the auction. It’s very exciting to have so many top name celebrities giving the charity their backing and voice of support this year. There are some extraordinary personalities from the world of art, media and sport who have taken the time to add their signature and drawings to the pottery”. Bill McAllister, Director CBM
Bidders are also invited to view items at an exhibition of the pottery on Thursday, 1st September 2005, in the studios of The Hothouse, 56 High Street, East Grindstead, West Sussex (corner of Hermitage Lane & Portland Road, next to the Dorset Arms).
All proceeds from the sale of the pottery will go to Christian Blind Mission.
