Pressbox (Press Release) -
Scotland's Ceilidh Band has after 20 years on the Scottish traditional music scene, launched its official website.
It's players, previously from well known bands on the Scottish music scene such as the Midnight Ceilidh Band, The Ceilidh House and the Pure Dead Brilliant Ceilidh Band, are some of the best on the traditional music circuit.
Founded by Tony Coogan and Donald McAskill the Scotland Ceilidh Band specialises in the function entertainment marked - weddings, corporate, school and student ceilidhs. The band was one of the first in Scotland to incorporate disco into their ceilidhs - and the ceilidh-disco mix is a highly successful addition to a nights entertainment.
The band members are suprisingly modest about their achievements to date. They've performed internationally - USA, France, Italy, Spain and the Far East. This January, they performed for 12 solid hours at a marathon ceilidh in the Up Helly Aa Festival in Shetland. 25,000 revellers attended their open air performance in Perth Town Centre last Hogmany. What is their smallest ceilidh to date? Well at one event at a top hotel in Glasgow, the host gave the guests the wrong date and when the band turned up there was just one in the audience. Needless to say, he had all the food, drink and music to himself!
For a limited period Scotland's Ceilidh Band are giving away free copies of 'Ceilidh Dancing in Easy Steps' and 'How to Arrange the Perfect Function' - both are available on the website.
