Rock band wins fight over use of name

Added: (Mon Sep 27 2004)

After 12 months, UK rock band The Rising, who hale from Lancashire, have won an out of court battle to keep their band name after it was used by another band, who are based in the south of England.

I spoke to master bass player and teacher, Sean Pastorius, to see what he had to say:

'This is a great breakthrough for the band as we have all worked hard over the last ten years plus that the band has been together, our name was officially registered from the start, so there was nothing to worry about really, however, it was a shock when it was discovered. The other band still have the right to play, just as much as we do, but not with the same name, no malice intended.'

This victory comes after years of writing, recording, gigging and CD releases in HMV, review after review and just major hard slog.

The band have recently played europes biggest music event called 'In The City', which is held in Manchester over a number of days and are tipped to play at Glastonbury 2005.
