CDV launches Mystery Message – a secret e-mail service for fans of The Mystery of the Druids
August 2001
With only four weeks until PC gamers can begin to unravel The Mystery of the Druids, CDV Software has launched a fascinating online tool that allows users to communicate with each other using the power of ancient rune stones.
Located at www.mysteryofthedruids.com (under the “Runes” tab on the left), the Runes Message program translates e-mails into sentences comprising genuine rune stones. Users simply type in their message, hit “translate” and the modern-day greeting is translated into an ancient language.
Users can send coded messages to family and friends personally or anonymously, adding to the intrigue. As an added bonus, each recipient will be entered into a draw to win a set of Videologic Sirocco Crossfire Speakers (srp £250) as well as copies of the game itself, which is due for release on September 14th 2001.
“The Mystery of the Druids is based around genuine historical information,” says Leo Zullo, Marketing Manager, CDV Software, “so we thought it would be good to offer gamers the chance to communicate as the Druids did. It’s amazing how such a simple idea can prove so addictive – even though the Mystery Message code has only been available offline at CDV for the past week, we’ve been sending messages like a gang of kids texting. We’re expecting this to prove a massive hit across the world now it has gone live.”
The Mystery of the Druids will be published by CDV Software in the UK and US on September 14th 2001.
