Playboy Plans Lingerie Webcast

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Hoping to outdo the hoopla surrounding Victoria's Secret's online catwalk, Playboy plans to parade a slew of Playmates Tuesday during its first "Playboy Lingerie Fashion Show."
The event will be simulcast live on the Web and on its cable channel. And streaming alongside the models will be one minute of rocker Kid Rock's new "adult" version of his "Cowboy" music video, which will be featured in full on Playboy's "Club Lingerie" home video, also being released on Tuesday.
Broadcasting live at 6 p.m. from Los Angeles' Century Club, Playboy wants to tap into the popularity of the broadcast of live events on the Internet.
It is trying to duplicate the explosive response to Victoria's Secret's online show last winter, during which Netizens glutted the Web in droves after the Super Bowl.
