Nature untamed. These two words described the magnificent Paracas National Reserve located in Pisco, Peru. This magical place covers a total of 350,000 hectares and is considered one of the most precious marine reserves in the world.
Paracas Reserve is a natural refuge where thousand of seals, flamingos, Humboldt penguins coexist. The landscapes and the diversity of sceneries are a splendid merge between the water and earth. Because of the Humboldt Current that arrives to Peru's beaches in winter, the water cools down and brings plenty of sea food, turning the island into a spectacular gathering.
Besides the assorted wildlife, Paracas Reserve offers remarkable archeological attractions. One of them is La Catedral (The Cathedral), a vast rocky formation eroded by the ocean and the wind. Another spot to visit is El Candelabro (The Chandelier), an impressive hieroglyphic with more than 120 meters long, better appreciated from the ocean.
Various hotels like the Libertador ( www.libertador.com.pe ) offer tours and cozy lodging, where you may be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this pleasant natural refuge.
