New research from a Virginia university has drawn a link between laughter and the ability for the body to heal itself. So what better news than a new weekly comedy club launching in Exeter!
Comedy Hall at Centre Spot Bar will bring many of the best and up-and-coming stand up comedians in the country to Devon. The club is being run by promoters Steve Lodge and Katie Sanders, who have successfully established the Comedy Hall comedy club in Tiverton.
"Over the past three years we have been entertaining packed audiences with some great comedy," explained Steve Lodge. "The nights have proven so popular that the likes of Bill Bailey, Russell Howard and Frankie Boyle have played here.
"Now with Comedy Hall at Centre Spot Bar we're bringing some of the country's best comedy talent to Exeter every Thursday night. It will serve as a great introduction to stand up or just a fun relief from the recession, with tickets just five pounds.
This month the leading comedy club chain Jongleurs announced that it will be closing three venues, but people need a good laugh and to see live entertainment at its best. We're going to prove that good value, good fun entertainment will wash away the winter blues and be a success in Exeter."
The launch event will be on Thursday 12th November at 8pm at Centre Spot Bar within the Exeter City football ground complex, St James Park. The night will have a real West Country feel. Bristolian comic Mark Olver will headline, Bath's Mike Tombs will open and Jared Hardy will compere, a hotly tipped young talent from Bristol.
Tickets are available on the door, from www.comedyhall.co.uk or by calling 01884 250066.
