Pressbox (Press Release) -
There was a time when pop music wasn't something to be ashamed of. When songs could be both catchy and meaningful. A lineage that began with The Beatles and was carried through the years by acts like T-Rex, David Bowie, The Smiths and Crowded House. Now 'pop' has become something of a dirty word. Sure, there is a healthy indie rock scene at the moment but who is flying the flag for timeless pop music?
Born in 1979 to Scottish parents but with a mix of Maltese and German blood thrown in for good measure, Edinburgh independent artist David William has just released his debut album, "One Way Ticket". A collection of 12 timeless pop/rock tracks, it echoes the sound of a by-gone era while still sounding fresh and unique due to David's distinctive voice and arrangements.
Influenced by Neil Finn/Crowded House, The Smiths, The Beatles, Travis, Neil Young, Bob Marley and Simon & Garfunkel to name a few, it has also been compared to Wilco, James, Death Cab For Cutie and Jason Mraz.
So whether you're a fan of any of those artists or simply love classic pop songs, make sure you visit David's website and hear how great pop music can be.
