Miss East Africa UK beauty pageant 2007

The 2nd annual Miss East Africa UK beauty pageant is set to go down a storm on 1st September 2007 with fifteen beautiful contestants from all over East Africa including, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia and Sudan. The contestants are currently receiving votes from all over the world with a stiff competition amongst themselves. All the fifteen hopefuls are vying for the chance to work with children’s charities in East Africa. Pauline Long, the founder and CEO of Miss East Africa UK described the Contestants as young, dynamic, hardworking future role models, with bright careers ahead of them and most importantly hearts to give. She expressed her desire to crown all 15 but unfortunately there is only ONE crown.

Miss East Africa UK is a beauty pageant that sensitizes on the plight of under-privileged children of East Africa; children orphaned through HIV/AIDS and Genocide. Each contestant has nominated a charity to support in case they become the lucky winner. Among the charities supported by Miss East Africa UK is Rafiki care children’s home of Kenya. This care home was visited earlier this year in May by the current reigning queen Brenda Akot. She also visited Nyumbani children’s home of Kenya, an experience she described as life changing. However, Brenda will hand over her duties to the next queen to carry on with giving the much needed help and create more awareness for the children.

The show will be held at Conway Hall, Holborn, London and will be hosted by Ugandan/Australian actress Mirembe Campbell with a high profile panel of judges.
Among the 2007 judges is last year’s judge supermodel/actress Rachel Ritfeld, Screen Nation Director Charles Thompson, Ugandan/Canadian poet/artist Jane Musoke-Nteyafas, Miss Global International Cynthia Muvirimi, magazine publishers and many more. Special invited guest on the night will include East African High Commissioners and Sudanese/Kenyan hottest rapper Emmanuel Jal

Despite having a panel of high profile judges waiting to scrutinize and the close competition in the contest, it is clear that all contestants have one thing in common; they have all proved they are beautiful with a purpose. Their purpose is to become ambassadors and a voice for the East African child.

The pageant is urging everyone out there to show their immense support by turning up to this prestigious event but for those who cannot make it to cast their votes online at www.misseastafrica.co.uk . Every vote counts. Exclusive live performances are expected on the night by East African UK based musicians including Ugandan newest hot talent Chizzo Lubega, Tanzanian sensational bongo singer TZEE, Malawian hiphop/rap artist Yung Cuz, Tanzanian best kept secret Teddy boy and many more. Meanwhile guests are expected to be wined and dined with East African cuisine.
