Mastercard International pursue Priceless

Added: (Wed Nov 14 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - AVEiT Media, in a letter received recently, was informed that MasterCard International was issuing a notice of misuse of Copyrighted material.

The letter, which was sent by Field Fisher Waterhouse, (their lawyers) informed us that aveit.com’s use of the Priceless trademark and intellectual property (the copyright material) would no longer be tolerated and that the material “often appears with offensive material”. Not usually the words of an objective Law company.

The material in question is the aveit.com Priceless Section and Pictures. This material can be found all over world on thousands of web sites. It would be economically unjustifiable for MasterCard to force the issue with all the sites containing this material so they have decided to approach the site which contains by far the most popular selection of ‘Priceless’ pictures.

Priceless is not a word unique to MasterCard. I’m sure they wouldn’t attack an art gallery over a Priceless Piece of Art or any other organisation for using the word Priceless. Not that it matters as the section was about to be dumped and replaced anyway. It’s just more free publicity powered by a big brand. “Now that’s Priceless” -said Matthew Appleton today regarding the issue.

“We were going to change the name of the section anyway…” says John MacDonald, Chief Editor of AVEiT Media sites “…shame”.

Shame also happens to be the name for a replacement section that will be going live on aveit.com in the near future.

All AVEiT Media staff have cut up their MasterCards and ordered replacement Visa Cards from the bank. Shame.
