Liverpool’s first Annual Tattoo Convention 7/8 June 2008 @ Liverpool University Guild Buildings

The Liverpool Tattoo Convention 2008 which takes place 7/8 June 2008 is the first event of its kind in the city and organisers are expecting it to become the premier alternative cultural event in Liverpool. The 2 day convention launched this year to tie in with the Liverpool Capital of Culture celebrations expects a footfall of some 5000 plus visitors bringing significant tourist revenue into the city.
The Liverpool convention will be packed with high calibre tattoo artists from the UK, Europe, America and as far away as Borneo and Singapore. The list of artists includes Dan Gold and Phil Kyle from TV’s London Ink who will be at the show with their film crew filming for Series 2 of the hit programme.
Over 90 artists invited from prominent studios around the world will be on hand to demonstrate their highly skilled art, the display of tattooing will be complemented by live music, a market area selling alternative clothing, jewellery and gifts and an after show party at a top Liverpool venue. Competitions will be running throughout the weekend such as best black and grey tattoo, best colour, best portrait, in addition Liverpool will be running ‘Tattoo Duel’ which is a first for a UK tattoo convention, one ‘Duel’ runs on the Saturday and another on the Sunday and sees two top artists go head to head to produce a themed tattoo within a timeframe.
Tattoo’s have exploded in popularity in recent years and it is only fitting that Liverpool host this event as the first professional tattoo artist in the UK was established in Liverpool in the 1870’s
