Rila Publications announces the release of their latest issue of KREOL MAGAZINE-International Magazine available online at www.kreolmagazine.com and in print now.
After the success of Kreol Magazine’s second issue, we are back with our next issue including articles on Beyoncé, Trinidad, Guadeloupe, jazz in New Orleans and much more.
Kreol Magazine is a quarterly lifestyle magazine that showcases the vibrant culture, traditions, people and places that make up the Creole identity. Kreol is a magazine meant for all Creole-speaking people, with a view to bringing different countries and communities together under one banner. It also seeks to introduce Creole culture to the “curious outsider”.
There are numerous and varying cultures around the world; each with their own language, cuisine and history. The Creole culture might be one of the most unique cultures in human society. Creole cultures, languages, and individuals are thriving in numerous corners of the globe in the 21st century , from the famous Cajun-Creole culture of Louisiana residents in the United States, to the Creoles of the India Ocean nations of Seychelles and Mauritius.
Many Creole peoples share a common French or Spanish heritage from the colonial period when both these nations spread their influence around the globe. But each culture managed to add some local flair to its common heritage to make their individualised Creole culture just a little different from others.
Georgina Dhillon, editor-in-chief of Kreol Magazine, has said that “it is Kreol Magazine’s mission to introduce readers to the multitude of Creole cultures. As we dig into the history of different Creole cultures, we find gems that the world may never have known existed. We seek to share these stories of Creole culture with our readers and give them a chance to learn more about Creole culture, whether they share this cultural background or not.”
After the success of our previous issues and the accolades from readers, we sought out a whole new slate of topics to introduce readers to exciting new aspects of Creole culture. In this issue readers will find engaging articles about famous individuals of Creole background, get a glimpse at the history of various Creole cultures, and learn more about nations with deep Creole ties.
There are millions of individuals in the world with Creole heritage, but would you be surprised to learn that some of them are incredibly famous? Our latest issue kicks off with a piece about American singer/actress Beyoncé Knowles and her surprising Creole roots from the U.S. State of Louisiana. Readers will find other absorbing pieces in this issue on characters from the tiny India Ocean island nations of Seychelles and Mauritius. We have articles on up and coming fashion designers Lionnet & Fauzou from Mauritius, as well as Patrick Victor, the famous singer/songwriter from Seychelles.
There is something for everyone. Read about the history of Seychelles State House, the exile of King Prempeh of Ashanti (in modern Ghana), Creole culture in Guadeloupe and Trinidad, and many more exciting topics.
As our readers flip through the pages of this issue, we hope they are entertained and left wanting more next time. We hope you enjoy reading about Creole cultural topics as much as we have enjoyed writing them.
