Pressbox (Press Release) -
Sacramento / Los Angeles, California, (3/1/2006) – Evermore Records, a new Southern California alternative-rock record label, will open its doors on March 1, 2006. Formed by the band Headrush (Sacramento, CA) and an investor/entrepreneur, Evermore Records is an artist-centered label built around technology.
Although the inception of this powerful campaign has been simmering for years, Evermore Records was forced into existence after the label that Headrush was previously signed to, failed; disabling them from putting out their first album, Weight of the Water. Like so many other bands, Headrush was stranded; they had fully completed album, but no one to release it.
Evermore Records thus was created as the entity to manage, market and distribute Headrush’s album. Since then however, the label has evolved into something much larger. The owners have pledged to join the movement of independent labels who are investing in forefront music in order to give music-lovers more choices.
The label’s strategy encompasses grass roots and guerilla promotional efforts as well as the heavy leveraging of technology, mirroring recent trends for independent labels. But while online sources will be a primary focus for distribution, copies of Evermore Record’s releases will also be available in record stores.
The Evermore Records Staff includes: Waymon Boone, the former singer/songwriter of the band Splender (Columbia Records), Mike Johnston formerly of the band Simon Says (Hollywood Records), a gold record recipient for the Varsity Blues Soundtrack and a recent feature in Modern Drummer. Joining them is eight-year pro jazz bassist Allison Johnson, and Brian Malchow, corporate executive and entrepreneur.
Currently, Evermore Records is completing the negotiations and necessary planning behind their first album release; Headrush’s Weight of the Water.
