EMILIE AUTUMN RELEASES CD SINGLE TO BENEFIT VICTIMS OF TERRORIST ATTACK
Emilie Autumn has released a new CD single in response to the September 11th terrorist attack on the US.
Ms. Autumn wrote and recorded the song, "By the Sword," on Sept 11th in the hours following the attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center. The CD single, featuring B-sides and live video footage, is available now via the web at www.emilieautumn.com.
"September 11th was the most difficult day to sit down and make music, but I
was inspired by the hope that I could help a grieving populace in some small way," said Ms. Autumn. "My first instinct was to write a requiem, but I soon realized that what I and others needed was a call to arms, so to speak; a summons to our collective brothers and sisters asking that we not lose our sense of strength and unity, but continue to fight for all that is good in humankind."
Not only an expression of her grief and empathy for the victims and their families, "By the Sword" is also Ms. Autumn’s attempt to assist in the relief effort. 100% of her royalties from the CD single are being donated to the American Red Cross and the AmeriCares Foundation to aid those most affected by the tragedies. "A catastrophe of this proportion will need unparalleled support to aid in both the physical and emotional recovery of our nation," said Ms. Autumn.
Several hundred MP3 downloads of "By the Sword" have already taken place from Ms. Autumn’s website, and advance orders of the disc have been strong. The song has also been enthusiastically received at recent Emilie Autumn performances in Chicago and Danville, IL. Bringing a poignant and patriotic moment to her set, Ms. Autumn precedes the live rendition of "By the Sword" with her own distinctive interpretation of the Star Spangled Banner on violin. "By the Sword" will also be included in upcoming sets in Detroit, Chicago, and Minneapolis. Specific tour date information can be found at www.emilieautumn.com.
