Christian Napster Temporarily Off Line
Christian Napster, the United States based MP3 download site thought by some to be the Christian alternative to Napster, is temporarily off line. Jeffrey Dean, owner of ChristianNapster.com, assures Christian users that this step is necessary due to the litigations and congressional hearings over the providing of free mp3 music files over the internet. In a statement Saturnday, August 18 Mr. Dean denied any alegations that ChristianNapster.com was off line due to any pending lawsuits against the web site by Christian music distributors such as EMI records.
"ChristianNapster.com will NEVER offer a single MP3 file for free without the express permission of the copyright owner," Jeffrey Dean stated emphatically, "the site was created to provide a forum for Christian musicians, record companies, and ministers to present their message to the internet community at large. All postings will continue to be by exclusive permission and license of the copyright owners.
Jeffrey Dean went on to explain that the temporary pulling of the plug on ChristianNapster.com was to sit out the MP3 internet debate and wait for the "smoke to clear."
"Hopefully, congress will create blanket compulsory copyright laws governing the downloading of copyrighted material on the internet, " Mr. Dean said, "but if not, I believe the current laws are sufficient for ChristianNapster.com to press forward into the future of music internet services.
