BREAKBEAT MAESTRO, ADAM FREELAND PLAYS THE ROCKET FESTIVAL, SPAIN, 16th, 17th, 18th MAY!

Pressbox (Press Release) - Renowned as a “Glastonbury-in-the-sun” of sorts, The Rocket Festival takes place once again near southern Spain’s Alhama de Granada, welcoming break beat maverick, Adam Freeland! Adam, who has been confirmed for a Saturday night slot at the Dance Tent, will be sharing the dizzying heights of the bill alongside Pendulum and old friends, Evil Nine!

Critically acclaimed for the versatility he has demonstrated with his slick combination of pioneering sounds, Adam Freeland is one of the most renowned DJs on the break beat scene. His record label, Marine Parade has evolved over the last 10 years into a hothouse for new talent and remains one of the most cutting-edge independent labels driven by new electronic sounds. The likes of Optical, High Contrast, Andy C and Ed Rush have taken inspiration, creating infamous re-rubs from the label’s most renowned tracks.

It was back in 1996 that his Coastal Breaks album kick-started the break beat phenomena and since then, Adam has garnered respect from the likes of Carl Cox, the Chemical Brothers and DJ Sasha to name just a few. His debut album, Now and Then, released in 2003, was inspired by punk, hip-hop, electro, dub, reggae and rock and featured his critically acclaimed version of The Doors’, “Hello I Love You”. It was during his Global Underground Series that he was really seen to steam ahead with an experimental fusion of Drone Rock, minimal and electro-punk, all defined by sexy break beat. Adam Freeland is one of many artists added to a roster that already includes an impressive combination of both Spanish and international talents, all ready to fire it up for an unforgettable experience.

The third edition of the Rocket Festival is situated near the hot springs of southern Spain’s Alhama de Granada and takes place amidst a dramatic rocky landscape, offering views of the Almijarra National Park. The festival site itself will be transformed into a surreal alien landscape, punctuated by towering monstrous sculptures created from industrial machinery by UK free-festival renegades, Wrekon (Mutoid Waste). This is one of most dynamic alternative arts and music events to take place in southern Spain, so pack a tent, a sense of humour and an unlimited appetite fun!
