BOND RELEASE NEW ALBUM “ CLASSIFIED “ IN THE UK SEPTEMBER 6TH 2004.
FOLLOW-UP TO MULTI MILLION SELLERS “ BORN “ AND “ SHINE “
Haylie Ecker (first violin), Eos Chater (second violin), Tania Davis (viola) and Gay-Yee Westerhoff (cello) – the classical quartet known as BOND – defied their detractors in 2001 and went on to become a musical phenomenon selling over 3 million albums Internationally including over 500,000 in the USA alone – a feat many UK acts have struggled to achieve to this day.
CLASSIFIED has proved to be a smash hit success in the USA where the album debuted in the Billboard Hot 100 at 76 ahead of Jamie Cullum and Katie Melua and to date has sold in excess of 65,000 copies since its initial release.
CLASSIFIED has also proved hugely popular on iTunes and is currently the 8th most requested download on the official site whilst in Asia the album has sold in excess of 75,000 copies since its release.
Following on from their cameo role in JOHNNY ENGLISH, BOND recently completed filming alongside Ice Cube & Willem Dafoe in Los Angeles in XXX:State Of The Union, the follow-up to XXX. The movie is directed by Lee Tamahori (DIE ANOTHER DAY) and is scheduled for release in the UK next summer.
BOND have also been confirmed as the face of La Redoute, the fashionable French mail order company and will be seen later this year modelling their Autumn/Winter collection.
CLASSIFIED sees BOND return to a more classically orientated style, delivered with their trademark verve and panache. With it comes an exploration of other musical styles and directions, from African and electro beats, hip hop to Latin and for the first time a sliver of jazz – when demand for this style of music dominates the charts.
However the classical inspiration on CLASSIFIED is still very strong and this is exemplified by the inclusion of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra who accompanies the band throughout the album.
BOND played a much larger role in the arrangements and compositions on CLASSIFIED, having written over a third of the album themselves working with legendary producer YOUTH, club DJ ED LEAL and MATT DUNKLEY.
This new sound sees BOND maturing and gaining confidence in both their natural identities and musicianship, clearly demonstrating that their music has hit a global nerve for a sound that is both emotionally uplifting and transporting.
The BOND global bandwagon continues in 2004 with the release of CLASSIFIED around the world and a concert tour visiting Europe, South America, the USA and Asia.
