Pressbox (Press Release) - Australian Interactive Software Games Developer Sliver Lightning Releases Latest Game In Softwrap Format

London, UK – 10 August, 2001: Australian entertainment software development company, Sliver Lightning, today announces the release of its latest game, ‘Ancient Evil: The Curse Of the Snake Cult’, in a new safe and secure Softwrapped format. The game is an intriguing mixture of old and new, the storyline being set in the mystic world of Olyndsia, yet with the latest special effects to allow the gamer to take control.

Using Softwrap, players are able to trial the game and not have the amount of game play in the trial format limited by time or usage. However, the Softwrap edition is
distinct from other demos of games, in that Ancient Evil will download the entire game – the complete content is just locked until purchased in full. Players unlock the full version of the game from the demo via the Internet or a toll-free phone call, receiving immediate fulfilment of their purchase.

The plot behind the game centres on the main character, Klug, and his rule at the helm of the unholy cult of snake worshippers, the Ophilia Sect. Troubled by his traumatised early childhood and past, Klug rose quickly throughout the ranks of the Ophilia sect to become their leader. However, not content with his position, and hungry for power over the richest and most influential leaders of Olyndsia, Klug joined forces with another cult and fights into the palace where he successfully assassinates the King.

This is where the player comes into the game as a special agent of the Royal Guard, whose mission is to infiltrate the notorious sect and annihilate members, those with authoritative positions within the cult, and ultimately, Klug himself. However, this may not be as easy as it sounds, as tricks and traps lie in wait for those entering the fateful lair. All is not lost though, as gamers will be equipped with hand-to-hand weapons and devastating magic spells with which to trap the myriad of monsters.

Head of Development and founder of Silver Lightning, Paul Turbett commented: “ We are very excited about the release of the game and to be teaming up with Softwrap for its marketing and distribution. In using Softwrap to digitally distribute Ancient Evil, there are numerous benefits to be had. Potential customers will be able to trial the game and then go on to purchase it immediately from the comfort and convenience of their PC. And not only will the trial format be secure from those who haven’t paid to receive the full game, Softwrap also makes it cheaper and easier for potential buyers to do so straight after having a taster in the form of the demo.”

Ancient Evil: The Curse Of the Snake Cult will be distributed globally on behalf of Silver Lightening by Softwrap in a free-upfront securely wrapped trial format through CD:ROM cover mounts on magazines and via download sites, which can be purchased in full automatically for US$19.95 (around £14).
