The Univeristy of Massachusetts, also known as UMass, is the 5 campus public University system of Massachusetts. The institutions within this system are UMass Amherst, UMass Boston, UMass Dartmouth, UMass Lowell, and the UMass Medical School. The University of Massachusetts was ranked 56th across the world in 2010 by Times World University Rankings. The state of Massachusetts is a state in the New England region of the USA. It is bordered by Rhode ISland and Connecticut to the south, New York to the west and Vermont and New Hampshire to the north.

The flagship University of the UMass system, and the largest Univeristy in New England, is UMass Amherst, otherwide known as The University of Massachusetts Amherst. There are 86 different undergraduate courses and 72 different graduate subjects offered at UMass Amherst . More than 27,000 students are enrolled at UMass Amherst. The University campus is situated mainly in the town of Amherst, but also partly in a nearby town called Hadley. US News and World Report's 2012 edition of America's Best Colleges placed UMass Amherst 94th on their list of "Best National Universities", and 42nd among public universities.

The Univeristy of Massachusetts Boston, or UMass Boston, is an urban public univeristy, and the 2nd biggest of the UMass campuses. Umass Boston is located on Harbor Point in the city of Boston. There are 8 colleges at UMass Boston: the College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Mathematics, College of Management, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of Public and Community Service, College of Education and Human Development, John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies and Global Studies, and University College. Both undergraduate and graduate courses are offered at UMass Boston, in a wide variety of different subjects.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth or UMass Dartmouth is located in North Dartmouth. North Dartmouth is located in the heart of the south coast region between New Bedford to the East and Fall River to the west. Around 9,155 students are enrolled at the university. Umass Dartmouth has an extensive graduate program at five different colleges, offering a large range of subjects to study. These colleges are the College of Arts and Sciences, Charlton College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Nursing and School of Marine Science & Technology.

The University of Massachusetts Lowell, also known as UMass Lowell or UML is the third largest of the UMass system, with over 14,000 students enrolled. The University of Massachusetts Lowell offers both undergraduate and graduate study in a wide range of subjects.

UMMS or The University of Massachusetts Medical School is home to 3 schools. These are the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the Graduate School of Nursing; a biomedical research enterprise; and a range of public service initiatives throughout the state. The location of UMMS isWorcester Ma. UMMS is ranked 8th in primary care and 53rd in research among the USA's 125 medical schools.

It is certain there presently exists lots of things which may attract graduate students to Massachusetts and to UMass. The variety of things to do in Massachusetts, the lovely countryside, the commercial importance of the area and the excellent reputation of UMass are possibly some of them. Deciding on a graduate school is definitely an important decision, and there are numerous other factors, other than location to think about. It is very wise to investigation any college you might be considering very carefully. The range of study courses that are available and financial factors are also extremely important to consider.
