JK Padampat Singhania Institute of Management and JK Business School under the aegis of JK Education Foundation (JKEF), organized a seminar on the Topic “HOW TO GET SUCCESS IN GLOBALIZED WORLD” by His Excellency Mr. Philippe Welti, Ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan. Mr. Govind Hari Singhania, Chairman, JKEF, while welcoming the honorable guest, shared that the relationship of the JK group were decades old.
Mr. Govind Hari Singhania, Chairman, JKEF said, “Today is the era of globalization. It is felt that free market and free trade is the only way out of the global crises. Private sector has become more efficient. Hence, economies should allow larger play of the private sector. More and more investments should come in Research and Development; and Specialized and value added sectors. Adopting these policies we would be able to succed in the global market.” He also asked the students to do more and more research and be updated about the changes.
Mr. Philippe Welti, Ambassador of Switzerland told that People in his country opted for higher taxation, unlike the populist government that would opt for lower taxation, putting burden on the public exchequer; leading to heavy government debt. People also often opted for longer working hours, which increased productivity and ultimately benefitted them, by way of higher wages. Mr. Welti fielded many questions from many students, including that on the illegal money from India, stashed away in the Swiss Bank accounts.
Swiss were not only known for their world class watches and chocolates; but also supplied world class machines to the Indian textile industry. JKs were one of the initial industrialists to import their machines for the textile company. His Excellency shared with gathering that in Switzerland it was a participatory government, where most decisions are made by referendum. He observed that decisions made by the people, were, more often than not, in the larger public interest.
Dr. Raghuvir Singh, Director, thanked Mr. Welti for his presence in the institute and for enriching the students with invaluable thoughts. All faculty, Staff & Students were present.
