“Pay As You Go” Computer Training Courses

Added: (Mon Nov 19 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - The recent announcement that the Individual Learning Accounts grant scheme ( ILA’S) has been suspended has meant that vocational training, especially computer based has now been placed beyond the reach of many.

“We were astounded that the scheme was scrapped, no warning was given and this hurts the people who can afford it least” says Jacqui Sesstein, manager of the Net-work Internet Centre in Waltham Cross.

We run the European Computer Driving Course (ECDL), which is one of many that we host to provide real opportunities to gain recognised qualifications that can lead to better employment.

To ensure that computer based training is affordable to all, we have introduced a “Pay As You Go” scheme, which mirrors the ethos of “Pay As You Go” mobiles and mail order shopping. To ensure the learner’s commitment to the whole course, we ask for a deposit and the balance of the course cost is paid as the learner continues the course.

All of our courses are roll on, roll off – which means the learner dictates the timescale of their learning around lifestyle and finances. This way the learning can continue for all. “
